Facing the Challenges of Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most heartbreaking and burdensome diseases this country is facing, especially for families and caregivers. This disease also impacts our health care system, economically and with demands it will place on the health care workforce. Alzheimer’s and other dementias also present a myriad of challenges to law enforcement, Adult Protective Services, and other agencies that serve older adults. Fortunately, advocacy organizations, government agencies, and medical researchers are working hard to provide services, advice for families and caregivers, and hopefully, medical breakthroughs that can slow down this disease.
